Connecticut Experiential Learning Center (CELC) invites homeschoolers aged 9-14 to participate in an interactive Connecticut history program at the Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford on Thursday, 7 January 2010 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. with Patrick Smith, Curator of Education for the Museum of Connecticut State History.

Using objects from the museum collection, hands-on activities and role-play, we’ll explore Connecticut’s political, military and industrial history. Topics will include the founding of Connecticut, early settlers, the Charter Oak legend, Connecticut nicknames and place names (including some in your town), Connecticut inventors and inventions, Connecticut’s role in… the military, and life in Connecticut today.

Admission to this event is a suggested donation of any amount which will go toward the purchase of cans to be used for our CANstruction project; ultimately all cans used for our structure are donated to the CT Food Bank.

For more information and to register, please contact Melinda or Maria at 203-215-2317 or [email protected]  The maximum number of participants is 25, so please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your spot!
