The Connecticut Experiential Learning Center (CELC) Middle School in Branford is one of five winners of a $500 mini-grant from the Regional Water Authority in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Authority’s Whitney Water Center.

For the past year, CELC students have been studying a pond and river habitat along the Farm River in North Branford. CELC will use the grant to have students to do a more extensive study of the area, focusing on comparing the pond and river habitats to better understand the characteristics of these distinct, yet related, systems.

The Water Center provides water science and environmental education to over 10,000 students within the Authority’s district each year.
