Often Connecticut Experiential Learning Center is the only open school in the area (sometimes the state) when snow is upon us!  Today, while we may depart early in consideration of travel conditions, the CELC students are currently actively engaged in a writing class.  Our intern Maddie reads aloud a story appropriate for the day.  As the snow falls outside our classroom window, beginning to cover the trees, we enjoy a reading of “Powder” by Tobias Wolff.

After reading, Maddie leads a discussion about characterization, the theme of the story, sharing thoughts and ideas about the particulars.

With lots of snow falling, a learning community has a day!  Math and history class,  and then outdoors to catch some snowflakes.  Hazah!
